We have tons of local gems that make for a perfect date night for you and your love. From an evening hike to dinner and ice cream, wine tasting, sunset chasing, and local events, there are tons of options to choose from. We’ve included some of our top picks to help you plan a magical date night.
An Evening Hike
Kamloops and the interior are hot spots for hiking trails. There are tons of trails that are perfect for couples who are just looking for something low-key and want to get outside. There are also options for couples who want to challenge each other and hike something advanced. Most hiking trails can be reached within 10-45 min outside of city limits. With summer coming around an evening hike is a great idea because you can do it after work and not have to worry about losing sunlight. Some trails are even perfect for hiking to watch the sunset.
Watching the Sunset
If you want to feel like your life is a romance movie this date idea is perfect for you. It can’t get any more magical than watching the sunset with your love and loving every moment of it. Seeing the golden hour light hit their eyes while you both chat about your day… is just so dreamy. How can you not go on a sunset date?

A picnic date night is a cute and simple idea for you and your significant other to do. You could pack a picnic full of homemade treats. Stop by the river and enjoy a picnic in the park or take it on the road and enjoy it from the comfort of your car while watching a sunset.
Local Events
Summer is always jam-packed with local events being put on by the community. These make for a great social date. This summer there are so many local events that are jumping back into the season full swing. Music in the park begins at the start of July through till the end of August. Nothing is sweeter than a cute trip to the farmers market with your other half sipping on a local coffee and enjoying all the local goodies. The summer farmers markets have already started on Saturday and Wednesday mornings you can view their vendors on their website or Instagram page.
Dinner & Dessert
A date night classic is a dinner and dessert. If you and your loved one don’t eat out often, going out for dinner could be a nice change of scenery. Kamloops is full of local restaurants with great patios that make for a perfect date night. Personal favorites of mine are Peter’s Pasta, Casa Azule, Storms, or Moxies. To finish off the night enjoy a local dessert or ice cream. Kamloops has a few local ice cream parlors that are only open for the summer season.
