Relaxing Spring Activities
Find time to relax this spring with these simple activites
Spring is here and it feels like the cold grasp of winter is finally starting to leave us. If you’re like me, you probably feel a rush of energy and need to start new projects during the spring season. While spring is a great time to start those big home projects you've been dreaming of, we can get caught up in the hustle and bustle and forget to find time to relax and enjoy the changing season. Spring is full of incredible and inspiring changes, big and small. It is one of my favourite seasons, the days get longer and warmer, the flowers begin to bloom and the birds start too chirp. It can be hard to enjoy this season and relax when it feels like we have a million projects on the go. I’ve decided to share some of my favourite and simple ways to relax and enjoy spring.
Get Out Side
Walking is one of the first things I go to when I am starting to feel overwhelmed and stressed. Walking is a great exercise to help clear the mind, and also get your body moving. I know I tend to be less active in the winter months when it's so much colder . With the days getting warmer and longer, try going for a short walk outdoors. If you enjoy going for hikes now is the time to start getting out there. Most trails will be cleared by now and perfect for taking a break from your daily work. Try reflecting during your walk and take notice of some of the small and big changes that happen during the spring season. This is a great exercise to help take your mind off of your To-Do list and towards something beautiful.
Begin Reading
Has anyone else noticed a collective interest in reading being sparked? It seems that everyone I talk to has started actively reading lately, and I’m here for it. Picking up a book on a spring morning, while sipping on coffee listening to birds chirping sounds picture perfect. Reading is a great activity to help you relax during the spring season. It can be done at any time during the day, making it perfect for early birds, mid-day breaks, or a simple activity to help you ease into your bedtime routine. Whether you prefer fiction or non-fiction, reading is a great way to help you escape for a little bit and take a break from any daunting projects you’re working on.
Start Gardening
Gardening, while a project, is one that does not have to be strenuous. You can start a small garden and continuously add and tend to it. Gardening is a great activity to connect you to the land and help you feel grounded. A garden can be a small project that provides you with some inspiration and relaxation. Witnessing a small seed grow into a full plant is an inspiring act of growth and renewal. Gardening is a commitment, which means if you want to have a flourishing garden, you have to set the time aside to tend to it. Much like ourselves, if we do not tend to our needs we cannot flourish.
Be Creative
Spring can be a perfect time to let your creativity out. I always feel the most creative and feel the strongest need to create during the spring season. The soft lighting of spring, the greening grass, and blooming buds always manage to spark a sense of creativity. If you’ve been wanting to start something creative now is the time to do it! Try painting, learning a new instrument or song, writing, or journaling. Writing and journaling are wonderful creative outlets. Journaling allows you to dump everything that’s been weighing on your mind out onto paper. Drawing or painting are beautiful creative outlets to help you feel inspired this spring season and create something magical.
No matter how you choose to relax or gain inspiration this spring season it is important to make sure you are taking the time to tend to yourself. Before we know it, summer will be here and we’ll be busier than ever with fun summer activities. Take the time for yourself this spring to recharge and relax and enjoy this changing season.
